GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — Installations at U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria welcome holiday cheer with their own festivities.

 

Ceremonies will be held on Tower Barracks in Grafenwoehr, Rose Barracks in Vilseck, Hohenfels and Artillery Kaserne at Garmisch.

 

Garmisch – Dec. 1, 5:30 p.m.

 

The Garmisch Winterfest is Dec. 1 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Pete Burke Community Center. The tree lighting ceremony takes place outside the center at 6 p.m.

 

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on a fire truck prior to the tree lighting and will be available afterwards to take pictures with children. Bring your camera to capture the perfect moment.

 

Winterfest will be held in the festive decorated ball room and features holiday music, a PTA Chili Cook Off, bratwurst, beer, Glühwein and hot chocolate.

 

The tree lighting ceremony is open to installation pass holders and their guests. Installation pass holders — both U.S. and local national — can check in four adult guests and an unlimited number of children at the Artillery Kaserne Main Gate. Guests must have a valid ID or passport.

 

Tower Barracks – Dec. 5, 5 p.m.

 

The tree lighting ceremony on Tower Barracks in Grafenwoehr takes place at the Main Exchange parking lot (near the Tower Barracks Theater).

 

St. Nikolaus and Santa Claus will be present to hear children’s  wishes. Bring your camera to take photos.

 

St. Nikolaus and Santa Claus will distribute gifts to the children at approximately 6 p.m.

 

The tree lighting ceremony is open to installation pass holders and their guests. Installation pass holders — which include both U.S. and local national — can check in four adult guests and an unlimited number of children at Tower Barracks Gate 1 (pedestrian gate). Guests must have a valid ID or passport.

 

Backpacks and large bags are prohibited. Purses, strollers and diaper bags are permitted.

 

Rose Barracks – Dec. 7, 5 p.m.

 

The tree lighting ceremony on Rose Barracks in Vilseck takes place at the Main Exchange parking lot.

 

St. Nikolaus and Santa Claus will arrive on a fire truck and listen to children’s wishes around 6 p.m. Bring your camera to take photos. St. Nikolaus and Santa Claus will also distribute gifts to the children.

 

The tree lighting ceremony is open to installation pass holders and their guests. Installation pass holders — both U.S. and local national — can check in four adult guests and an unlimited number of children at Rose Barracks main gate. Guests must have a valid ID or passport.

 

Backpacks and large bags are prohibited. Purses, strollers and diaper bags are permitted.

 

Hohenfels – Dec. 8, 3:30 p.m.

 

The Hohenfels community hosts its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony Dec. 8 in front of the Main Post Chapel (parking lot) at 4:30 p.m.

 

Celebrate the holidays while the kids enjoy free train rides and a visit from Santa. Bring your cameras to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be arriving by fire truck around 4:45 p.m.

 

Spend your time visiting the Christmas market between 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. and shop homemade wreaths, fresh Christmas trees, holiday decorations, while enjoying Glühwein, cocoa, chili, goulash, sing-alongs and more.

 

Open to all ID holders, guests and installation pass holders. Local nationals with installation passes can check in one car-full of guests. Guests must possess a valid ID or passport at the time of arrival.

No backpacks or larges bags are permitted.
