GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria will hold its annual Retiree Appreciation Day Oct. 23 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Soldier for Life Center and the Health and Dental Clinic on Tower Barracks.
Retirees of all branches of service, family members and surviving spouses are invited to the event, which is focused on providing health and benefits services and updates on retiree issues.
The Health Clinic on Tower Barracks, Bldg. 475, will provide TRICARE registration, flu shots and other immunizations, blood pressure screenings, visual screenings of feet for diabetes, and counseling on nutrition, smoking cessation, skin cancer prevention and other health issues.
Retirees will also be able to refill prescriptions and order a pair of glasses. For refills, retirees will need a valid prescription from a U.S. Army health clinic or a local healthcare provider that is credentialed through Bavaria Health Command. (Most physicians in the Amberg and Weiden areas are credentialed.) To order a pair of glasses, retirees will need a prescription and an APO address.
The Dental Clinic on Tower Barracks, also located in Bldg. 475, will provide exams, cleanings, oral cancer screenings and X-rays.
Both clinics open their doors at 6 a.m. and start providing services at 7 a.m.
At the Soldier for Life Center, Bldg. 244, the garrison commander, Colonel Mark Colbrook, will welcome retirees and their families at 9 a.m., and the USAG Bavaria Retiree Council will provide an update on retiree benefits and services.

The Veterans Administration will assist with benefits inquiries, and Legal Services will assist with wills, tax questions and powers-of-attorney.
