GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria’s Family Advocacy Program, will participate in Safe Sleep Awareness Week March 11-17.

Representatives from USAG Bavaria’s Family Advocacy Program will host an information booth at the Grafenwoehr Exchange March 12 in support of Safe Sleep Awareness Week.

Safe Sleep Awareness Week is a national campaign to help raise awareness about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, also known as SIDS.

SIDS is often associated with preventable and unsafe sleep environments and infant sleep practices. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, babies should always be put to sleep Alone, on their Back and in their own Crib or bassinet.

Parents should refrain from the use of any bumpers, toys, blankets, pillows or any other soft surfaces in the crib while an infant sleeps.

A good way to remember safe sleep practices is to use the ABC’s of safe sleep: Alone, Back, Crib!

For more information about safe sleep practices, contact the New Parent Support Program at CIV 019662-83-2650 or visit www.cdc.gov/features/babysafesleep.
