GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — The Tower Barracks, Rose Barracks, and Hohenfels communities will join forces to make U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria look neat and clean during the annual spring cleanup event April 22 to 26.
Soldiers, family members and civilians can help improve the appearance of USAG Bavaria by collecting and removing trash and debris from living areas, common areas and unit areas.
Tools and equipment for the cleanup are issued from the Self Help Stores. Contact DSN 475-6331, CIV 09641-83-6331 (Tower Barracks) or DSN 476-2577, CIV 09662-83-2577 (Rose Barracks) for more information.
The Hohenfels Self Help Store is located in Bldg. 742 on Linderberg Road, across from the commissary parking lot. To contact the Hohenfels Self Help Store call DSN 466-2045, CIV 09472-83-2045.
Bulk trash in the troop billeting areas and housing areas will be picked up April 25 at designated locations, which will be marked by signs. In order to get picked up, the trash needs to be disposed of curbside. Do not set material out on the curbside before April 22 or after 6:30 a.m. April 25 on either Rose or Tower Barracks.
NOTE: Hohenfels will not have bulk item disposal on post and residents should contact the SORT coordinator in their respective areas for bulk item disposal scheduling.
The Hohenfels SORT Facility is located in Bldg. 125, contact DSN 466-4887, CIV 09472-83-488.
Bulk trash includes items that are too large or too heavy to fit into a normal car’s trunk, such as furniture, mattresses, carpets, appliances, bicycles and other items that cannot be dismantled, torn or broken down to a size that would fit.
Items that would fit in a car’s trunk, such as microwaves, vacuum cleaners, computer and stereo components, small TVs, etc., need to be brought to a recycling center individually by the owner.
Tower Barracks Residents
Bring small items to the Tower Barracks Recycling Center – Located next to AAFES Car Care Center near Bldg. 441. Open Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Thurs 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., and the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Closed German and American holidays.
Place leaves in baskets, containers or in clear trash bags.
Take household hazardous waste, like batteries, oil, antifreeze, paint, cleaner, solvents, etc., to the Self Help Store, Bldg. 394
Take wrecked cars, car parts, motorcycles, engine parts, etc., to a separate container at the Auto Craft Shop, Bldg. 528.

Residents can also dispose of bulk trash items at the Centralized Recycling Center – Located across from range 118, on the Tank Road between gate 4 (Tanzfleck) and Gate 9 (Fire Station). Open Mon-Fri 8 a.m. – noon, 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Closed Wed afternoon, Sat, Sun, and German and American holidays.
Rose Barracks Residents
Bring excess trash to the Rose Barracks Recycling Yard – Bldg. 107, located next to CIF and the Self-help store. Open Tues and Thurs 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.
The Rose Barracks Recycling yard will have extended hours during Spring Clean-up.
Place leaves in a pile near the curb or place them in clear bags. Leaves on the curbside will be vacuumed by a “Vac Truck.”
Take garden refuse, like cut grass, branches, bush trimmings, plants, etc., to the “Green Waste” Collection Point at the POV wash rack near Bldg. 702.
Take household hazardous waste, like batteries, oil, antifreeze, paint, cleaners, solvents, etc., to the Self Help Store, Bldg. 103.
Take wrecked cars, car parts, motorcycles, engine parts, etc., to a separate container at the Auto Craft Shop Bldg. 711.
