GARMISCH, Germany — Travelers to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the surrounding area should plan for additional travel time between Oct. 8 to Dec. 6, 2019.

The B2 coming into Garmisch from Eschenlohe (end of A95 Autobahn from/to Munich) will completely close from Oct. 8 to 12. This will require anyone coming or leaving Garmisch to take a detour around through Oberammeragau to Murnau, or through Krün to Walchensee and past the Kochelsee. The detours will add at least an hour, possibly more, depending on traffic and time of day.

From Oct. 12 to Dec. 6, the B2 from Eschenlohe to Oberau will be reduced to one lane only. This will still cause long delays in traffic and it might be better to take the aforementioned detours.

If you’re coming from the west, it’s recommended to take A7 via Füssen and through Austria.

Trains to and from Garmisch-Partenkirchen should be unaffected.

Updates will be posted to the USAG Bavaria – Garmisch Community Facebook page as they come available.
