Calling all Army families! Gratitude Initiative is now accepting applications for students in grades 8-11 for the GI College Success Academy.

GI provides the most comprehensive college and career counseling, SAT/ACT Test Prep, and financial aid counseling program, free of charge to our military families. The program is delivered online and is backed up by a team of live degreed experts who work directly with your family via email, phone and chat.

This service is completely free of charge to qualifying military and veteran families from the date of enrollment, all the way through college graduation.

Gratitude Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide educational support to the children and families of military service members, veterans, disabled veterans and those killed in defense of our country.

GI’s student application/enrollment process:

Applying for the GI College Success Academy is quick and easy.

Army families desiring to apply for the program will go directly GI’s website and go to the APPLY FOR PROGRAMS tab to get started.

Qualification and application guidelines are listed on GI’s website. Children in grades 8-11 may apply at any time. High school seniors must have completed an application no later than September 15th of their senior year.

The process includes a verification section and application section.

The verification section requires a family to upload three documents including proof of military service (DEERs report, DD214, etc.), birth certificate of child showing they are related to the military connected parent, and the student’s most recent grade report.

The application section contains two parts: a student section and a parent section.

Families may start and stop the application and save their progress at any time during the process.

GI’s application committee reviews all completed applications and usually responds to families within two weeks. Only completed applications are reviewed.

The review considers multiple factors including, but not limited to, family situation, strength and thoroughness of the application, and the ability of a student to benefit from the program. Upon acceptance into the GI program, families are sent an email informing them of their acceptance and information about what happens next.

Visit or contact your local School Liaison Office for more information.
