AAFES News Release
GRAFENWOEHR, Germany – Holiday shopping will look and feel different in 2020 due to COVID-19. The Grafenwoehr Exchange is committed to ensuring shoppers have a safe, sanitized and secure shopping experience during the Black Friday and Saturday sales events, from Nov. 27 to 28, 2020.
“Shoppers that want the Black Friday shopping experience will find clean, sanitized stores, malls and restaurants,” said Grafenwoehr Main Store Manager Denise Lundie. “Of course, it will look different than traditional Black Fridays, as capacity will be limited and social distancing will be enforced to ensure the safety of every shopper. The Grafenwoehr Exchange’s focus remains on protecting the force.”
Starting at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, the Grafenwoehr Exchange will begin issuing Take-A-Tickets near the front of the store. These will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for door busters and limited quantity items. Once a customer has a ticket, that item is reserved until noon the day of the sale. This system will allow shoppers to come back and shop any time before noon that day, thus eliminating long lines and crowds.
All Take-A-Ticket purchases will have contactless pick up at the back of the store. Exchange associates will verify the customer’s receipt, pull the items and then load them into the customer’s car.
The Tower Barracks Main Store will open at 8 a.m., and the number of customers allowed inside at one time will be limited. Exchange shoppers will be lined up outside of the mall for entry, and they will exit through the food court.
All customers in line will be required to wear a face mask and use a shopping cart to maintain physical distancing. Hand sanitizing stations will also be available at the entrances.
On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, the Exchange malls will remain open across the USAG Bavaria footprint. The Tower Barracks, Garmisch and Hohenfels retail stores will open at 10 a.m. While the Rose Barracks furniture store will open at 11 a.m.
