WEIDEN, Germany – Even though all upcoming events and citizen encounters with USAG Bavaria partner cities were canceled due to COVID-19, there are still opportunities for strengthening partnerships. On Feb. 18, Lord Mayor Jens Meyer of Weiden and Col. Christopher R. Danbeck, commander of USAG Bavaria, added the new garrison sign to the partnership board in front of Weiden’s town hall.
Meyer and Danbeck thanked both the civil engineering department of the city of Weiden and the garrison’s public works department for the good cooperation in the production of the sign. While Weiden and USAG Bavaria have been partnered since 2008, this exchange was necessary because the garrison has a new logo. Last December, the garrison sign on several other partnership boards – along the major roads into the city – were also renewed.
Both leaders expressed their hope that the containment of the coronavirus will be successful and that citizen encounters will be possible again later this year.
