MUNICH — On March 15, the Bavarian State Government announced changes to the current Corona rules and regulations that will be put in the 15th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance. These changes will be effective on March 20, and the ordinance will extended up to and include April 2, 2022.


The following is a summary of the announced changes:


1. Extension of the 15th BayIfSMV up to and including April 2, 2022

The Bavarian Council of Ministers decided today that the 15th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance will be extended up to and including April 2, 2022. Current regulations have been extended for: 

  • Mask rules
  • 2G and 3G access rules for retail, gastronomy, hospital, senior citizens homes and etc


2. The following corona rules and regulations will expire on select dates

  • 2A – Expiring on March 19, 2022:
    • No more contact restrictions for persons
    • No more restrictions on number of attendees at events
    • Music and dancing are no longer forbidden
    • No more restrictions regarding the sale of alcohol in certain areas
    • Special rules for church services and meetings are lifted
    • Volksfests and markets are allowed to be held again
    • Child care facilities no longer have to organize children in contact groups
  • 2B – Expiring on March 21, 2022:
    • No masks in the classroom in elementary and special education schools
  • 2C – Expiring on March 28, 2022:
    • No more masks in the classrooms for the 5th and 6th grades
    • Masks must still be worn in the school building and during breaks
