GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria Commander Col. Christopher Danbeck and Command Sgt. Maj. Sebastian Camacho presented awards to 19 German and American civilian employees for their longevity and dedication to the Army at a Length of Service ceremony on April 5, at the USAG Bavaria Tower View Conference Center.

“You are the essence of our community’s success,” Danbeck said. “People who do what needs to be done day after day, year after year, and even decade after decade.”

USAG Bavaria leadership was joined by special guests to present the awards during the ceremony, including Installation Management Command-Europe Director Tommy Mize and Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Truchon, Mayor Edgar Knobloch of Grafenwoehr, Mayor Hans-Martin Schertl of Vilseck, Mayor Bernhard Stangl of Pressath and Second Mayor Severin Hirmer of Weiherhammer.

The ceremony acknowledged civilian employees for 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service.

“On behalf of the entire USAG Bavaria community, I would like to personally express our appreciation to each honoree for your sincere and devoted efforts,” Danbeck said. “You have dedicated your talents and knowledge to make this a place where Soldiers choose to be stationed and where families enjoy living.”

Ursula Suttner, an agreement specialist for the Directorate of Resource Management, received an award for 45 years of service to the U.S. Army.

“When I started on April 1, 1977, I just wanted to stay a short time, because I always wanted to be a kindergarten teacher,” Suttner said. “But I liked it so much, and I enjoyed every minute. I always had nice bosses and great colleagues. Forty-five years later, I’m still here.”
